Amy and I just finished binge watching Ted Lasso which is on Apple TV + the premise is that Ted Lasso, an American football coach hired to manage a British soccer team despite having no experience. But what he lacks in knowledge, he makes up for with optimism, underdog determination…and biscuits.
One of the statements that we say quite a bit here at Agfinity is that it is not as important to dispense information than to gather it. We ask a lot of questions, to be curious. We work to help solve problems for you our customers, then we try to find out what price range the market is at and what you would be open to buying or selling at. After that we talk about your decision-making process and what pieces need to be in place to choose to sell or buy your grain. Then we put a deal together and send a broker note out to all parties, asking the hard questions to make sure that we have been as transparent as possible. We try to uncover all concerns that you may have and work with you to get a signed broker note back. We do all this by asking questions and listening, by being curious not judgemental.
We get asked all the time where the market is going or why won’t a seller sell at this price or why a buyer cannot pay more? For all of this we try not to have an opinion or be judgmental we strive to be curious and ask the questions and take back the answers.
With the amount of uncertainty and opinions in the world right now, this might be the moral vaccine we have been lacking, for us to “Be curious, not judgmental.”
