We Give a Shit

By March 2, 2022Blog

We give a shit. We deploy empathy over sympathy with our team and customers.

As you read this you may think, what does this mean. Well, what you are reading is our newsiest addition to our core values. As a company we have spent the last few months going back and forth on how to word our 4th core value. We wanted it to say that we care but in a more powerful way, but at the same time tying in empathy and being short and to the point. So that’s how we landed on the simple we give a shit as it is powerful and to the point.

When it comes to the part in the core value about deploying empathy over sympathy, we wanted to demonstrate what we have been implementing throughout our team. You may think why would you want to deploy empathy and not sympathy? Empathy is about having understanding whereas sympathy is sharing. We can’t always share the pain or struggles you may have when marketing your grain or farming, but we can understand and imagine what you are going through.

Another couple of new addition to our website that we wanted to share with you is our Core Focus and The Agfinity Difference. The Core Focus describes what our Purpose, Cause and passion is as a company, and it describes what we do and why we do it. Our purpose is to: To facilitate a better grain trading experience. Our Cause: We partner with our customers to find solutions to their grain marketing challenges. Our Passion: To contribute to the betterment of our team, and local and agricultural communities. We feel that our core focus amplifies what we do and why we do it.

The Agfinity Difference is what sets us apart from others in the industry. We feel that these 3 things set us apart from others in the industry:

  1. We don’t just haggle on price; we partner with you to find solutions.
  2. We are a people driven technology company in the ag space.
  3. We use data and creative thinking to meet your marketing needs before you even know you have them.

Over the past few months, we have spent some time reflecting and looking at where we want to be as a company and what we want to strive to achieve not only a company but as partner with our customers. Be sure to check out our website for some new and exciting additions that we have recently added and to discover a bit more about us.

Because Farming is Forever

Buyer Brief – by Bryce Taylor

On February 21, Russia officially recognized two states in Ukraine and sent troops to the territories. Three days later, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Today Russia continues to wage war on Ukraine. The two countries are major exporters of wheat with Ukraine also a key supplier of corn and Canola. Market Analysts say in terms of the agricultural market it is going to be very volatile and disruptive.

Chief Market analyst for Farmlink Grainfox, Neil Townsend, says “they don’t know who’s trading the futures, I don’t know why they’re trading the futures in this matter. I mean, to me, there’s nothing that says certainty in the markets. We just don’t know what they’re going to be able to export over the last remaining months of the marketing year.”

“The only thing that people really need to know is that it’s going to be marketing under extreme conditions of uncertainty and volatility. So a price one day might be there and might not be there the next day. For producers that are worried about things changing dramatically up or down, there is nothing wrong with taking some risk off the table and just making a sale so that you can go about your business”.

Domestically, in the Canada: Outlook for Principal Field Crops report for February 18, 2022: “the Lethbridge feed barley price for 2021-22 is forecast to hit a new high of $420/MT. For 2022-23 Canadian barley supply is projected to increase to a comfortable level, mainly reflecting the expected recovery in production in the Prairies. Based on this expectation and lower corn prices for 2022-23, the Lethbridge feed Barley price for this period is forecast at $320/MT.

Seller’s Tip: We are seeing buyers largely covered for March movement, offering better prices for April, May, and June movement. By Marketing your grain in March, you can take advantage of these prices. Selling incrementally can also take advantage of prices that are here today and might not be there the next day. Call us today with your movement targets and we can help find you the best pricing opportunities for you.
