Agfinity Takes on Ag in Motion

By July 6, 2022Blog

You heard that right Agfinity is heading to Ag in Motion! Erin and Joseph will be heading to Langham, Saskatchewan for the show July 20-23rd. We have been talking about attending this trade show for years. After being cooped up for so long due to covid we decided this was the year to get out and see what the rave has been all about for Ag in Motion.

This will be our first year attending as spectators and we are excited, as we hear it is a must see. Even though we will not have a booth space, we would love to set up times to connect with you. This will be our first large event since the lifting of restrictions, and we can’t wait to meet and connect with people again. With this being our first time going we are also always open to hearing your Tips tricks and must see, especially when it comes to navigating the trade shows. We look forward to connecting with everyone again!

Look for us wandering around the trade show and feel free to stop us and say Hi or give us a call ahead of time to set up a time to connect. We may even look a little lost at times and may need a hand navigating where to go.

Buyer Brief – by Sandra Correia-Letendre

As my last article a couple weeks ago, the rain continues to come down in most parts of Alberta. Now farmers in some areas are needing some hot weather to balance off this rain so crops continue to grow successfully. Bids for Feed Grains, Canola and Wheat continue to plumet as the week goes on.

Over the last few weeks Barley bids have dropped approximately $25-$30/mt for both old crop and new crop. With how good crops are looking so far, this continues to put downward pressure on prices. This week bids are hitting $400-$410/mt delivered Lethbridge for July -Dec. That’s right, most buyers now have the same bid for old crop and new crop. Many buyers are expecting this price to hold or continue to drop until we get better idea of yields for harvest.

All grades of Wheat continue to be on a downward trend. Demand has been low and now there is some optimism on Ukraine ports opening up which will get export business back to normal. Regarding New Crop, the StatsCan report that came out yesterday shows that wheat planted area in 2022 is expected to be the largest in the past 10 years. We will soon enough see how these play as a factor on wheat prices.

For Canola, futures have reacted negatively to scattered moisture across the prairies early in the week. Today it has shown some stability as the futures remain flat to yesterday. This volatility makes it difficult for buyers to lock in prices for any length of time.

StatsCan report brief update: Barley acres were down about 15% to 2021. All wheat acres were up 8.7% to 2021. Canola acres were down 4.7% to 2021. Oats acres up 16.1% to 2021. Check out the StatsCan report that came out yesterday to learn more.

Seller’s Tip: Crops are looking good for harvest, sell your old crop before prices drop any further. Let’s work together on marketing that grain, call 1-888-969-5552.
