It’s that time of year again. Things are looking like they are on the verge of drying up. Parting with the odd winter that we had and anticipating the warm, dry weather to come. It has already been lingering around in albeit, small doses. With all the black swans around, weather included, we could be expecting a break here soon enough in the markets. Although this odd circumstance has brought about the closing of non-essential businesses, we are finally seeing the bars, and smaller businesses opening their doors to the public. With spring in the air as well it also means a time that we should be gathering around our televisions and enjoying playoff hockey.

With the unfortunate, unforeseen shutdown of the NHL, it was almost as if the last shred of sanity (at least for me) was gone. Although, news has been indicating that we could be expecting playoff hockey shortly, it really can’t come soon enough. With many arenas expecting to open, we may expect quite a few more regulated gatherings in bars, and restaurants with close family, and friends. Although this might not mean fans in the stands, with the NHL planning on playing in empty arenas, it does mean more beer and food consumption. And c’mon…y’know you’ll want to enjoy a Molson, and those one or two family members, or friends that’ll enjoy quite a few Molson’s, while watching an intense playoff match. Cheap tasting lagers, and hockey go together like Ying and Yang.

What does this mean for the economy? More beer, and food consumption means more of a demand for gradable grains. A push back, and a break that we have been waiting for, for months as of now. We appreciate all the farmers who have stuck through these months of darkness in the markets, but we could be (with some fingers crossed) finally seeing the break that we need. Not only will there be a push-back in the markets, we’ll be able to cheer on our favorite teams in the journey to the Stanley Cup. Brighter days are ahead, so even if things don’t seem right, now…We can hold up our heads and hope Gary Bettman can finally work some magic.

That being said, we have a great reputation with working with feed grains, but we also have an abundance of buyers paying up for gradable grains as well! Give us a shout at 1-888-969-5552, and we would be more than happy to help you market your grain, and to update you on the current markets! 🙂

Recent News

Here is some of the news that we are following, and we figured we’d throw in Bill Gates summer book recommendations. Audiobooks are a great way to pass the time behind the wheel.

Some optimism is Feeder Markets seeing $8-10 higher on Canadian Feeder Cattle over 800lbs. This may be on the back of the Stats Can report considering new-crop feed grains bearish. The weaker barley outlook for new crop is likely contributing to the recent strength in calf prices.
